Ferruginous Takeoff

There’s a place near where I live that tends to have my favorite looking hawk (the ferruginous) this time of year. Unlike other hawks, they tend to tolerate us humans pretty well. I was not all that far from this guy when he finally decided to fly. I had time to get my settings, and prop atop a fence post. I know that a blank blue sky is not an ideal background but I was not going to pass up shooting it as it cruised by with nothing behind it.

Is the cropping about right?

Dave, this is a great action shot. I like the wings and tail fully extended, plus the feet stretched out. I would want just a tad more room top and bottom but that’s minor. Well done.

Hi Dave
Great looking hawk take off. I agree with David Bostock on the photograph and would only add, You could de-saturate the blue sky a little to the hawk more pop.
