What changed: Here’s another view of the same fish in a slightly different location…a bit easier to see but still decently disguised from Osprey’s and Eagles.
The photographer is looking for thoughtful feedback on the image as a whole, especially around the areas noted below.

About This Image
Friends took me to this place where there’s a huge amount of crystal clear water flowing out of a mountain. Since it’s a spawing area for at least four kinds of trout, fishing is not allowed. There is also a good variety of vegetation underwater. The fast moving water and a steady breeze made for a very abstract view. In this case, there’s a nearly two foot long trout. Can you find it?

I’m pleased with the mix of abstract and well hidden reality. I have a second view, where the trout is easier to find

OMG - this goes from one extreme to the other. On the one hand, this is an extraordinary abstract! Phenomenal. Do you or anyone remember Nancy Lea Sandy’s “Headwater” images? Those inspired me to find these liquid jewels in mountain streams. This is most certainly a jewel!
On the flip side… this is perhaps the most cruel image ever posted on NPN! Find the fish you say? I’ve been staring at this on and off for over an hour! I’ve tried flipping, rotating, making extreme adjustments looking for a shape… nothing!
Please DO NOT reveal the trout - at least not for a few days! I want others to suffer as I have!
I do mean this in a fun and friendly way. This is unbelievable!
Now, putting on my techie hat… I do have a suggestion. If you divide this diagonally UL to LR, the LL triangle, IMHO could use some contrast. I’m guessing it’s the glare and perhaps the field of view was such that the polarizer didn’t cover the whole surface… but that area has a bit more of a glare than the UR triangle. Hope that makes sense.
I will be looking forward to the reveal in the coming days. Lord knows, I don’t see no trout!
This make Where’s Waldo seem like a cake walk. First it is a wonderful abstract photo. The myriad of colors and ripples is phenomenal. One could look at this for hours and not get bored and find new things in it over and over.
Now, regarding Find the Fish, I think I might see where it is but I don’t want to spoil the fun for everyone else, then again, I might just be seeing things - that is, I might have just imposed what I think is a fish on a portion of the scene.
Its funny that you tagged this photo as abstract AND wlidlife! Haha.
This is an awesome shot Mark! The abstract nature of it, and the incredible variety of colors. Add the trout hunt - an absolute winner. I’m pretty sure I see the trout. Like Lon, I can’t wait for the reveal.
Two foot long - oh thank you for the really helpful clue! I think I see it, near some give-away ripples. But that’s probably a red herring. Wonderful textures and colors, just like you get from your pond, Mark. Superb catch!
