First Light Hits Excelsior's Mist

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I met Bonnie Lampley for a sunrise shoot in Yellowstone. Sunrise was pleasant, but not spectacular. However, first light hitting the mist plume from the Excelsior Geyser Crater was striking, made even more so by the height of the mist plume when there was very little wind.

Specific Feedback

The lack of wind (somewhat unusual for Yellowstone) let the mist plume tower nearly straight up which worked out well with the sun just starting to come over the ridge to the East.

Wonderful light and subject! I love the gradient in the sky and the misty BG!

Oh, that came out very nice! No nits from me. In case anyone is wondering, that is exactly what it looked like - the colors were lovely just as the sun was rising.

Hi Mark,
That is one impressive mist plume from the geyser; all topped off with that lovely warm sunrise light! I like the inclusion of the walkway as it adds a nice sense of scale to the image. Beautifully done!
