The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Awakening to heavy fog, I decided to drive into Yellowstone to see how things looked. In the hour that it took to get here, the sun came up and was working hard at burning off the fog. However, the view over Elk Creek into the Absorka’s across the Northen Range was still lovely. This is a view that I photograph regularly because of the multitude of ridges often gather interesting clouds or in this case, fog.
Specific Feedback
Although more fog would be nice, I’m happy with this result. It fits in well with my collection of pano’s from this area.
Technical Details

This is really an awesome image. It fits this week’s theme perfectly and it is well composed and captured. I have taken many panos in Yellowstone, mostly around Lamar Valley, but I had never noticed this scene before. The composition is very well balanced by the peaks on both sides and a peak in the middle. In addition, there is tremendous depth with grass, trees, fog and hills/mountains separating each layer. The presence of the fog is icing on the cake as the scene is already outstanding without it. I may be showing me lack of skill/knowledge, but I can’t see anything wrong with this image!
As you noted, I love the layers and ridges in this image. The light is beautiful. I love the ultra long pano. The light fog does a nice job of delineating the different elements of this.
Mark,
The pano format works beautifully for this scene as all the elements seem to be perfectly placed. Even though this is a pano it has a nice sense of depth with the different layers starting with the treeline and ending with the BG peaks. Very nicely done IMO.
