Flapping Honker

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I caught this Canada doing a little in-place flapping. I got several frames but this one’s my fav.

Specific Feedback

Cropping about right? It’s a feather texture study. Is it okay that it’s angling away from me?

Technical Details

Z9, Nikon 180-600 lens (just got it and it’s my first day shooting with it), monopod, 1/3200th, f 8.0, 360mm, ISO 1800

Nice look at the goose; definitely a different pose from the usual.

The great thing here is, that the goose turns its head and therefore we have eye contact, even while looking at its back. Well done. Cheers, Hans

The wingspread is awesome, Dave. Amplifying a bit on what Hans said, I think I see just a hint of a catchlight in the eye. If you brought that out more I think it would make the image even better.
