Description
For more than two weeks in December, we had really thick fog - old fashioned Tule Fog all up and down the Central Valley of California, even up here in Redding. The view from a hill above the Sacramento River was beautiful. I was taken with this tree against the foggy background and the hint of the river below.
Specific Feedback
Did you read the far background as a river/water? I brought out a bit more of the faint reflection to show that.
I thought about going b&w, but I really liked the subtle hint of color.
Technical Details
iPhone 16 using Project Indigo in automatic mode. Anyone using P.I.?
Processed in ACR and PS; removed a couple strays poking in from the sides, brought out the reflection, and increased the contrast in the foreground (the latter two adjustments through dodging/burning lights/darks).

Very nice!! The tree has a lovely shape and nice supporting surroundings. The water and reflections does come across on a close look, and I love the detail and the color palette!
It has been a foggy winter down here, too, with a lot of needed rain. I haven’t played with PI yet, but thanks for the reminder – I need to have a look!
Hi Bonnie,
I would be ecstatic if we had fog for two straight weeks here in MD; especially now with all the bare trees! I too like the subtle colors in this moody landscape and I could see it working equally well as a B&W. The main subject has a ton of character and the hint of water works very nicely here. Beautifully done; no suggestions from me.
Bonnie, the tree is nicely shaped and it’s separated from the surroundings well by the fog. In the larger view, the background is clearly a river, that you’ve let show faintly but clearly. I too like the subtle colors in the foreground grasses and the reflection.
