Wonderful image Nichole! Regarding the profile problems; I researched this a bit and I’m fairly certain the ICC profile simply got corrupted somewhere along the way, whether that’s when you exported from Lightroom or during the upload, it’s a rare thing and I wouldn’t worry about it. I went ahead and fixed your image so others won’t see this problem. If you want to email me the original jpg I can do some testing to figure out what happened. By converting it to RGB it fixed the curves problem as noted by Guy as well.

Nichole,

First, welcome to NPN! Glad to have you here! Not sure if t his is your first post, but regardless, this is fantastic! Hard to find words, but it’s so delicate, intricate and as other’s have mentioned, really enjoying the high-key presentation. Anyone who’s photographed in the west, has aspen images - but very few have anything like this!

I can’t/won’t comment on any of the tech issues - but just to say thanks to David and others for helping out. Glad it got resolved.

I don’t think there was consensus, but I’m one for the top crop. Yes, the sky does add context and place, but I really like just the screen-full of aspen and find the inclusion of the top unnecessary. But that is of course personal preference.

Welcome aboard and look forward to more images and your participation!

Lon, thank you so much! This is my first image posted. I am very grateful to have found NPN. What a welcoming group and a wealth of experience and knowledge. I look forward to participating and learning more!

Hi Nicole, and welcome to NPN. I’m a little bit late to the discussion here but will say that you have a wonderful, almost abstract nature to this image. This was very creative of you to chose to go B&W with this as I have not seen many aspens that have been taken down the B&W highway before. Well imagined and well executed. Sign me up for the @Bonnie_Lampley crop and slight rework. I’m not bothered by the slightly left leaning trees. Having them go perfectly north and south might make them too static but its certainly worth a try if you feel like it’s needed. I like the shallow depth of field you got from shooting wide open as well. It gives the image an almost painterly feel to it where not everything is sharp.
I’m glad the team members here figured out the issues with importing this.

Hi, David, thank you so much! I am also glad David K was able to figure out the issue. I was spending an inordinate amount of time trying to replicate the problem on my own computer.
