We were awakened at 3:00 AM with the announcement of a heavenly display ,compliments of Mother Nature . This was a perfect ending to our trip thought the inside passage of Alaska -onboard the Sea Bird-National Geographic/Lindblad Expeditions. Please note the Little Dipper!!

What a beautiful “Fourth of July’” The photo’s sharpness is remarkable. Balancing on a ship’s railing makes it even more so. The placement of the brightest area leads into the rest of the picture, and the lines of the mountains on the left bring the eye back. Is this cropped? A minor observation is the limited amount of visible reflection. Given the circumstances, it may not have been possible to include much more. James, thanks for sharing an exquisite example of blue and green in a pristine environment.
Thanks for the comments and yes_it was a beautiful conclusion for a wonderful trip. I didn’t have much to work with in terms of composition and I had to focus beyond the bow of the ship.
