Critique Style Requested: Standard

Description
My husband and I were in our dinghy returning from a morning walk when I spied this critter on the beach. It was much later in the morning than I would usually like to take photos, but I couldn’t let this opportunity slip by as I don’t see fox very often.
Specific Feedback
The colours were not good, so I thought I would try black and white, however it still looks flat to me and I don’t know if there is a way to give it some “life”.
