Larry, first I would like to apologize for not commenting sooner. I was out of town all week, and only got on NPN once or twice for just a few minutes. I am guessing that this is a couple of snow flakes? I love the star shape to them. It would be nice if you could provide how you captured this, type of lens, on tripod, camera settings, etc., and if it is snowflakes. It helps others who are interested in trying a shot like it, as well as helping those that might be able to add a helpful critique. The snowflakes (if that is what they are) show up nicely with the black background.

Larry: I always have liked your snow flake shots and this is a marvelous pair. Would love to see more of these again. :+1: :+1:>=))>

This pair of snowflakes is lovely, Larry. The details look great, with the bits of color fringing adding nicely.

Shirley the camera was a camera d series most lightly a 70d. the lens was 60mm macro w 1-5 magnification. I used two tripods one to mount the platform ( built myself) and the other to hold the camera with a sliding mount. the snow crystals which make the snowflake ( in the case two crystals) are captured with a dark paper to select the crystals and a needle to take it to the platform. there are options form the lighting (in this case natural lighting). larry

Wow, nature’s art for sure and you’ve done a great job of capturing the detail Larry. I think its George Lepp, an OP columnist, who does great snowflakes too.

Missed seeing your snowflake images this winter. So glad you found one so the newer members can enjoy their various shapes and designs. These capture each form perfectly. Thanks for posting them.

Always love to see your snowflakes Larry! It is amazing nature can build these amazing forms. :+1:
