Frosted Dandelion

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was out taking frost pictures the other day and couldn’t pass up this late November dandelion. I waited just a bit for the sun to find it.

Specific Feedback

I left the frosted grass coming in the bottom because I didn’t think it would work to try removing it where it crossed the blossom. I did use a vignette around the edges-did that work or do the ice crystals look to dull there?

Technical Details

I was at f/16, but I still stacked a number of images just to make sure I had the whole flower in focus. Sony A7Riv, FE70-200 f/4 macro@ 200 mm, tripod with ball head, all shots at f/16, 1/40, iso 500. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to 3400x4014. Taken November 24th at 8:33 AM.

What a great juxtaposition between summer and winter. You did a great job capturing the frost in such great detail and not getting it blown out. The background is nicely blurred.
