Image Description

Germia Park, Pristina ,Kosovo.
I took this photo on an old Nikon D80, with the 18-70 kit lens, already affected by fungus, without a tripod or filters.
Given that anything above ISO100 looks like golf balls, it was a huge workout and a few scares to get 1.3 seconds at f11.
What’s more, it was edited on my knee, on a laptop with a half-broken screen that hadn’t been calibrated for a long time. Who knows how it looks?
Anyway, I liked the result. How about you?

Most old stuff is just stuff. Sometimes there is a gem, and that is the case here. I see no evidence of an old rig, including the processing. It’s a lovely quiet scene with my favorite forest theme of horizontal branch or leaf structure against vertical trunks. The trunks are detailed but very nicely subdued and reach (or march) into the BG so nicely, with the ones becoming smaller in the center. Very nice variety and the actual distance is obscured in mystery. A peaceful and lovely scene!!

Joao, I cannot escape the title, which is what drew me first. I immediately thought of Kosovo’s recent history, and how these trees symbolize the resurgence of its people. But I am not deeply political. I can appreciate how the nearer branches in the light are beautifully supported by all the foliage and branches behind them. There is a feeling of peace, which I hope is not an illusion.

hi Joao,
The soft subdued light is perfect for this idyllic peaceful scene. I am also liking the lovely shades of green you captured here. This turned out really well considering all of the technical issues you had to deal with.
