Ghost Ships

Dawn breaks over Mono Lake in California. It was worth the drive in the dark to see this otherworldly location in such great light. It was really windy though, so a bit trying at times. Later in the day it meant a face full of grit every time I got out of the car to shoot.

Lr for initial RAW adjustments including a 16:9 crop, saturation & vibrance, some texture & contrast to keep the blacks and shadows down. Then into Ps for a couple of little distraction removals and zone and color masks to improve balance and luminosity. Then a tiny bit of color grading in the mid-tones to make everything pop.

Kris, the sunrise colors set off the craggy tufa formations very well here.

Thanks @Mark_Seaver - I know it’s a shot a lot of people take, but this one’s mine, lol.

I missed this one, Kris. As you said it is yours and it is awesome. I don’t think I remember a silhouette version before.
