I’ve photographed this old general store in Independence, Texas for many years but because the wildflower blooms have been underwhelming the past few years I’ve stayed home. This year’s wildflower forecast is very hopeful so I went out today to scout out some old haunts. It is in greater disrepair than I remember with the building having a pronounced lean and the front Texaco glass on top of the pump broken. There also used to be an old pickup parked in front or nearby but it’s long gone. I’ve included a previous shot from 2010 so you can see some of the progression. All comments welcome. >=))>

Bill, the “now and then” shots show a building in the midst of some striking changes. I find it both a bit sad and quite interesting watching old buildings like this decay. The oof wildflowers in the foreground are quite the juxtaposition to the old weathered wood. In your 2010 view, the pickup looks to be inn pretty good shape and even the building is standing pretty straight.
