Mercer Arboretum, Humble, Texas
I made a short trip to the Mercer Arboretum earlier this week and was delighted to see the overall collection of tropical plants and flowers in general and the Hidden Gingers in particular. The Mercer was pretty much wiped out by Hurricane Harvey in 2017 but a major restoration project has revitalized it to its former glory. I liked the small flowers within the main bloom. All comments welcome.>=))>

Bill, these are very striking flowers. The “small” blooms in the bigger blooms is very intriguing as well as looking good. The details look great. I’m going to guess that the flowers are similar to the indian paintbrush, with the large parts being colored bracts and the smaller flowers the “real” flowers.
They are beautiful, Bill. An amazing plant, to have the pretty purple blooms at the top, and the tiny yellow ones below, seems unnatural, but this is nature! Nice find and capture, and perfect for the WC.
