Glossy Ibis

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I have only ever seen one Glossy Ibis in the wild and he was too far away for any sort of decent shot. This one was shot in a huge free flight aviary not too far from home.

This bird was missing an eye, so I’m pleased he gave me his best side. I am assuming this is why he was there, because life can be tough for a one eyed bird..on the outside. He, and his mates were not worried about us at all.

The iridescence is real. No enhancement needed. He was just too beautiful not to share.

Specific Feedback

Any comments and suggestions are always welcome.

It’s a beautiful study of the magnificent bird Glennie. The framing works really well allowing the iridescent feathers to be foreground then the neck, head and beak showing the rest of the bird.
The black background also works to set the whole thing off… I would also share if it were mine.

Just love this so much! Excellent portrait! I wouldn’t change a thing. Contest winner!

Thankyou @Ryan_H and Christine!

An absolutely beautiful composition and pose of this bird and the lighting is wonderful, Glennie. The dark background really suits this bird.

I admired this earlier without taking the time to comment but I think it is gorgeous! @Ryan_H described it perfectly – it is a study!! Absolutely no nits and congratulations on the EP!!

Thank you Diane!
