Golden-headed Cistacola

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Cistacolas are wee tiny birds with the biggest personalities. This one is sitting atop a coral tree chirping his little head off. I think he was trying to convey something important to me.

Specific Feedback

Too much foliage, not enough bird?
White sky background?

Some leaves were pruned off.

All comments and suggestions are very welcome!

Not much you can do about the ratio of bird to foliage so go with it – as you did! Lovely composition on the foliage and the bird is a wonderful discovery! S(he) does convey an attitude. And SO COOL that the foliage near the golden head becomes more golden!! White sky gives it the look of a page in an Audubon book. Not shabby. And when I click twice for the enlargement I’m delighted by the detail you caught! I can’t see anything to suggest, except print, frame and put in a gallery!

Great singing pose and detail, Glenys. I like the composition as is, showing some habitat. The foliage colors work well with the bird. Well done.

I see nothing wrong with the BG color and prefer the pale bluish gray over white. Pose is excellent and like the composition a lot, Awesome photo…Jim

There’s absolutely nothing I’d change in this image, Glennie. Just superb!

Wonderful work. So painterly in some ways. Good job :+1:.

Soft, appealing and immediately engaging. Great straddle pose and of course that joyous open beak. Or maybe it’s an angry bird, lol. The pushed whites and exposure work well with the colors, too. Good catch!

Wonderful image Glennie. Great blend of vegetation and bird. I like the way the top leaf provides a bit of a shade for the bird. Well done.
