Description
These plain coloured little honeyeaters are quite common on the east coast of Australia. I never see too many lovely shots of these little birds and wonder if it is because of their dowdiness. I think they’re stellar!

Not much done to this one. Shadows lifted in ACR and a tad of canvas added on the right, and a distortion to squidge up the left-hand side to make a more pleasing crop.

Wow impressive Glenys! Bird is sharp head to tail and the background is wonderful. Bird is pretty much centered but that doesn’t bother me given the other elements. Nicely done.
Dowdy? Not in my book. Beautiful image, Glenys. Excellent detail and I like the blue eye and yellow in the face . Nice look at the flower as well and the overall setting is quite pleasing.
Glenys: You posted this upside down . I have a large print of Mount Rainier’s reflection in a lake and you would not believe how many folks ask why I displayed it upside down. This is just marvelous. The bird is anything but dowdy and the perch/BG combo is wonderful. Superbly crafted image. >=)>
While there are tons of spectacularly-coloured birds in your neck of the world, this one is still gorgeous. Tack-sharp detail, excellent pose, and a marvelous flower. Complimentary BG as well.
I don’t mind it being centeredd at all, but you might experiment with adding a bit on the top and left.
Lovely image!
The honeyeater is well framed by the grevillia flower and the leaves as well as the implied frame of the perch twig behind. The eye is sharp and has a nice catchlight. Did you use a flash? The piece that really makes the photo is the neutral and nondescript background.
A triple WOW on this one! Detail is perfect, soft light gorgeous, BG just right, and perch and pose are exceptional! No need to add any canvas – for my taste the composition is perfectly balanced. This needs to be in a gallery – natural art at its best!
