Gray Fox

I haven’t seen the Gray Foxes in my yard since winter. A pair of Red Foxes has moved in, and they are dominant. But yesterday, I was standing outside when I saw this Gray Fox coming across the backyard. He posed for some photos, relatively unconcerned I was there. Fun to see my old buddy, again.

It is really great to find this kind of subjects in your back yard, I really like the attentive pose but you seemed to have missed the critical focus on face.
I suggest when you find it next, please get a lower POV and try eye level shot.

How awesome is that! He’s looking right at you! I’d agree with Jagdeep about maybe getting lower down but I can imagine you were probably trying to be as still as possible and didn’t want to move to crouch down and startle the fox and then get no photos! It still is neat.

Hi @JRajput @Vanessa_Hill. Yes, it would have been next to impossible to get down on eye level with this guy. The best I could do is take the shot that was given. Looking at the metering in the raw file, it appears I had focus right over his left eye, @JRajput.

Terry, what a great visit. Grey’s are much harder to spot than Red’s and you’ve got this one looking right at you. My one wish is that the fox weren’t so centered.

He is definitely front and center, Mark. I’ll try a different crop, thanks. Yeah, I love the Gray Foxes and miss them. I don’t see them nearly as often since the red usurpers moved in.
