Glad you listened to him!
Excellent image - tack-sharp, great pose, and cool perch.
The blues seem a tad oversaturated from here (disclaimer: overdue for a monitor calibration) , and you might consider either cropping a little less tightly to avoid cutting off that right part of the snag - or cutting it off yourself in an interesting way so it doesn’t intersect the edge…
Sweet image!

Excellent detail and a very nice perch, Ed. I like the hint of clouds in the bottom of the frame. I agree with @SandyR-B about doing something with the extra branch going off to the right. I’d probably try to remove it completely, but I don’t know if I could do it right at the edge of the main snag.

Nice sharp look at the heron and I like the perch, which complements the heron. The branch off to the right seems to balance the perch. To address Sandy’s comment maybe you could add some canvas on the right and fill it with the sky and wispy clouds.

Thank you @SandyR-B, @Dennis_Plank and @Allen_Brooks. I desaturated the sky a bit, and then selected the whole extra branch sticking out of the frame and cloned it out. The overall composition balance may be just a tad bit to close to the center now, but I think that could be easily adjusted.

Wonderful image with a nice sky, great pose and perch. Excellent job on the branch removal! The softer sky color feels just right.
