Description

Stick Marsh, Melbourne, Florida
(THE place for nesting spoonbills)

This fellow, in full breeding colours, has high aspirations in digging up and dragging this clump back to it’s nest. There is no way he can weave this mess this into his nest without impacting all the other nearby nests, both spoonies and great egrets. His HOA neighbors won’t appreciate the roots dragging through their property.

I can think of anything you could do to improve this. He is beautiful -nice colors, tack sharp, out of focus background that shows his environment … image tells a story … Its wonderful!

Love seeing these spoonbill Sandy especially when they are carrying such a heavy load. Colors, sharpness, and exposure look well done to me and I like the wing position. A good look at that red eye too. I like the crop that includes the long, trailing piece of branch with still room for the bird to fly into on the right.

Beautiful, Sandy. Love the curves of the root-stem behind the bird. His neighbors will probably just fight over it.

Really nice flight shot here Sandy. I love the colors and that nesting material is impressive. Beautiful bird and nice clean image.

Wonderful subject well photographed – sharp, great pose and composition, excellent BG!! I sometimes see Egrets with huge branches and wish I could see into the dense trees to find out what they do with them. They are evergreen eucalyptus so you can’t even tell in winter, but there must be some big messes.

Good environmental/action image. The colors and detail look spot on.
