These birds are often grubbing on the ground around here in Korea, but they rarely raise their crests. They do this on first landing, or if aggravated or startled, and only for a moment. So I was very lucky to catch this pair, probably startled by seeing me pointing a camera at them from the car. I focussed first on one bird, then the other, and this is a composite of two shots. The focus is not that sharp, but I was happy to capture a moment of synchronized crests.

After ACR, Lasso tool in PS to join one focused bird to the other, making minor adjustments to conceal the join. Topaz Denoise, Shadows and Highlights, then Topaz Sharpen. Cropped by about 40%.
