The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I was trying for a different flower when I saw this hoover fly land on a nearby bloom. Not sure what this flower is called. I was shooting from my car and realized I still had my shutter on a low speed, changed up to higher but think I should have gone ever higher.
Specific Feedback
Overall appeal, is the yellow of the blooms good: too light or too dark. The fly has been sharpened, acceptable?

John: Really good capture of the hoverfly and in general I like the soft multicolor BG. That one blue smudge/streak is the only thing that looks out of place and it does pull my eye a bit. Not sure what would be the best way to tone it down or make it go away but that’s the only significant improvement I can think of. >=))>
This looks like a Common Evening Primrose. The yellow tones are a bit on the flat side – maybe the raw file would allow more tonal separation of the yellows, likely by tweaking the WB. There is considerable strangeness in the BG, likely from overuse of denoise and sharpening. With no information about the software used, it’s hard to guess. The fly looks good as does the flower and its foliage. Maybe the BG needs to be masked from the sharpening. Denoise is generally good these days, but the newest in Lightroom is now at the top of the heap. Sharpening is way behind in sophistication and most results just make my teeth hurt. You could crop quite a bit from the top and left to minimize the BG issues. The fly and the flower are very nice and worth a bit more work!
Lovely image John very well spotted, beautiful colors, I think yellow flower looks a little flat and the reddish/brown stem on the left draws the eye away also the leaf that arches above the subject is distracting. A tighter crop maybe 1:1 might help this image
A very nice shot of the hoverfly and bloom, John. I’ll be a bit of a contrarian here and say that I find the background interesting. It takes a minute to get used to it, but the subject against an almost impressionist style background is interesting to me.
