House Finch test subject

A common subject, but more testing of the Canon 800mm F-11. Is the contrast OK? Are the highlights too light?

Interesting to see an example of this lens. It appears that the focus plane was on the feet and that the head is just a little ahead of the sharpest plane. The high contrast of bright sun lends a harshness that isn’t the most pleasing. If his head were angled back a little more there would be a bit more light on the eye. A tripod and some luck with a still subject should allow shooting in softer light with a slower ss. Shooting a burst will often yield one that is sharper than the others.
