The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Photographing these small birds that flit around and rarely give you more than a second or two, it’s hard to think about composition, etc. So I was pleasantly surprised at the background showing off the fall colors of some distant trees.
Specific Feedback
Any thoughts appreciated.

Very nice pose and detail and lovely BG!! I wouldn’t mind seeing more at the bottom of the frame. But something is giving you a cutout look, seen most clearly in the fine feathers just ahead of the rump and just above the L foot. That can come from pushing colors too far as well as more usual masking issues.
Allen - sweet BG here, and a nice pose from the bird. Love the lichen on the perch. I see Diane’s areas of concern, and there is another small area between the end of the wing and body. I think you used the “select subject” in PS - as I often do - and it didn’t do a great job of selecting in these areas. It has trouble with fine feathers, hair, etc, and I ususally have to refine the area afterwards.
Nice image, though !
Hi Allen. Beautiful pose from the bird and a gorgeous background. I see the issues mentioned above and it looks like you selected the bird and increased the brightness of it a fair amount. I don’t know if you use masks or layers for that. In either case, you should be able to go back and modify either the separate layer or the mask to get rid of that look. The only thing that really bothers me about the image is the mass of out of focus lichen in the lower left and I don’t know what you can do about that.
Thanks for your input, @Diane_Miller , @SandyR-B , and @Dennis_Plank . I’ve reposted the image. I cropped to take in Dennis’s thoughts on the lichen. The only processing on the vireo was to decrease the shadows in LR and in PS, besides the crop, I removed two branches on the left. And the raw file went through DxO for NR.
