Warbling Vireo

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Another shot from Northern Ohio. There are several other good birding areas besides Magee Marsh and this was just east at Metzger Marsh State Wildlife Area. I like how the background colors work with the bird and the overall sense of its environment.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated.

HI Allen
The framing and upper body eye contact, color and feather detail are nice. The only this you might try, is to clone an out of focus read over the tail. This would leave all the focus on the upper body.

Very, very nice!! Lovely pose and detail! I love the warm glow, which looks natural and not like a color cast. Only suggestion would be to tone down the bright OOF leaf bottom center. Could be easy to select the sharp-edged reeds on either side and extend that selection farther out, then inverse it and so some 30% opacity cloning from the area above the head. The other bright area, UR, doesn’t bother me but it might stand out more after this one is fixed.

Beautiful, Allen. I love the habitat and the degree of softness in it. The bird is very sharp and the pose is perfect. I do see the bright areas that Diane mentioned and I could see working on them a bit.
