Yellow Warblers

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

A common warbler at Magee Marsh, but they rarely stood still long enough to photograph or were deep in the brush. I like the coquettish head turn on the second and would wish for a head turn on the first, but like the background and it was in the open. Not sure about the bright yellow on the wing, but that’s out of camera.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated.

I love the pose you caught in the second image, Allen. Beautifully done. The framing and composition work for me. The first is also a nice image, but just doesn’t have the character of the second.

well done images. I also prefer the second image because of The pose and composition. But I do like the green background in the first. Nice work

Wonderful color, light and processing. I really like the background and perch in the first, and would prefer it over the second except for that fantastic pose in the second.

The pose in the second image is sweet. I wish there was more head turn towards the viewer in the first image. Colors are excellent and I certainly wish that I ran into you while you are chasing warblers at Magee…Jim

I agree with the others on the second image. I also find the yellow of the feathers in the second image more dramatic.

These are both sweet images @Allen_Brooks I like the high key look in the second, and as noted the pose there has a ton of character. warblers are just fun birds to try to photograph, identify, get to sit still . . .

Hi Allen
The Yellow warbler is really will photographed. The exposure is good on both shot, I give tip of the hat to the second. The Warbler pops of the background and the branches direct the view the Yellow Warbler looking back to you.
