I can see for miles

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was high in the San Francisco Peaks, looking west. It’s ponderosa pine forest as far as you can see.

Specific Feedback

A small, compressed version of this isn’t ideal here. Lots of individual trees are discernible in the foreground.

Any and all criticisms are welcome.

Technical Details

ISO 100, 111 mm, f/16, 1/20th of a second.

Don,
The soft pastels are quite nice and make for a serene and peaceful mood in this image. The title is perfect as the viewer can literally see for miles and I l think that the feeling is accentuated with the layering ridgelines. Beautifully done.

Thanks, Ed. The view from where I was standing is unique.

Don a lovely layered landscape . The misty glow in the background make this a moody peaceful image. Personally I would like to see a linear gradient from the top to darken down the sky and stop the viewers from leaving the frame

Thanks, Ian. I’ve spent a lot of time tinkering with the tones on this one but I’ll try a few more possibilities.

Beautiful image, Don. I love the simplicity of this scene and the repetition of the ridgelines. The subtle color and contrast of warmer and cooler tones is also very nice. Well done!

Thanks, John.
