Installing NPN as an app on your smartphone

Although there are no dedicated apps for NPN, it can be conveniently added to your home screen, offering a user experience similar to that of an app. This allows for features like notifications.

iOS

  1. Open Safari on your iOS device.
  2. Navigate to https://community.naturephotographers.network/.
  3. Tap the “Share” icon in Safari. It’s represented by a square with an up arrow in the foreground.
  4. From the options that appear, select “Add to Home Screen”.
  5. You can edit the name that will be shown under the shortcut icon you are creating on your home screen, we suggest “NPN”.
  6. Once you are done, tap the “Add” button. The PWA will now be on your home screen.

Android

  1. On your Android device, open Chrome.
  2. Navigate to https://community.naturephotographers.network/.
  3. Tap the “three dot” icon in the upper right to open the menu.
  4. Select “Add to Home screen”.
  5. Press the “Add” button in the popup. The PWA is now installed and available on your home screen.

Thanks David, I actually did this some time ago. It works great.

I have the Discourse Hub app loaded on the iPad, but not on the phone yet. It doesn’t get the best reviews in the Apple store, but so far on the iPad it works fine. This may be a good solution for people who want an app since the NPN one is gone.

And if any other sites you are a member of use Discourse, you’ll have them in the same place without opening a browser.
