Patricia,

I really like your comp here and your chosen crop; the island is captured and framed quite nicely.

Not worth mentioning really (then why one might ask?) But thought I would mention the piece of the island merging with the frame on the left. Just an observation because it doesn’t bother me. and why? because the same thing is going on with both sides. Kinda adds a bit of mystery in that the viewer might ask if it’s truly an island, or still connected?

Very subtle, but I’m enjoying the late afternoon light as well. The bare tree is surrounded nicely by the evergreens. The island is simply quite picturesque.

There does seem to be a bit of haze way in the back; not sure what that’s from. And I’m kinda wishing for more pink in the sky as eventually the earth’s shadow will make it that way.

Lovely image.

Patricia, this is a very nice image, I like it. The panoramic aspect ratio works well with this subject, especially given the lack of clouds in the sky. I think the composition is nicely balanced, the arrangement of trees on the island and the background shoreline work well together. I agree with Lon, the crop on both sides of the island appears deliberate, and it works for me. I like the your processing of the light here too, it looks very natural for that time of day.

I’m not familiar with Mitchell Bay, and searched for it with no luck, maybe you can tell me where it is at the NENP meetup :grinning:

Mitchell Bay is in Ecum Secum on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia. My family has had a summer home there for almost 15 years. It currently is under contract with a June closing so I’ve been taking a nostalgic trip through my old images.

Real nice and tranquil scene. The cutoff left side mentioned about bothers me a bit, but not a deal killer. Add a little canvas on that side and fill it?

Sorry to hear it is being sold. That must be tough.
