Hi Peter, the black and white surroundings adds to the feeling of one lonely bird hunting on the beach. The bird being small in frame also adds to this. Wish we could see more of the face of the bird in the first image. Bird is well placed in frame given the negative space you are including.
Hi Peter. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the gray sand. To my eye, it has the feel of industrial waste rather than nice beach sand. Just my personal reaction. It does make the plover pop.

Well, this is why I put these photographs out there. to get a reaction. I agree the seaweed in the first photo does not make from a clean beach look, but it is what nature gave me. Thank you, Allen & Dennis, for your comments.

I can see why you went with no color, Peter. That’s an odd looking beach, or maybe it’s just the angle. Certainly not the golden sands I envision when I think of Florida beaches. It’s already nearly monochrome.
