About This Image
I love milkweed seeds and seedpods and we have a bunch of them in one of our milkweed spots. Normally the milkweed gets consumed by monarch caterpillars long before the seedpods start to grow but so far this spring we haven’t had much activity although today there was a female laying eggs. On this pod it seemed like the cell door was opened and the inmates were on their way out. >=))>

I cropped this for comp to emphasize the seedpod and especially the seed “escaping” in the URC. Even the slightest zephyr makes these tiny dancers skip about so no way to do a stack. I like the DOF and plane of focus. Your thoughts?

Bill, milkweed seeds, hanging onto or around the pod are, as you say, very hard to shoot due to their movement. Your dof is great, showing off the row of seeds still in the pod and especially the one in the upper right about to fly away. The clarity of the “feathers” is wonderful.
So cool!! It’s perfect to see the ones still neatly arranged in the pod, next to those that have escaped. Excellent sharp focus and this is one that didn’t need a stack as the focus falloff gives a sense of depth and makes some of them stand out. Too many sharp would be confusing. Well seen and presented!
Bill, I like how the seeds form two patterns, the vertical like in the pod and the circle around the pod of the escapees. I think this is a lovely composition, drawing my eye down and around and landing on the single seed a the URC. Nic blurred background too.
