The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The Jacana visit the local lake most years and some how raise young. My goal is to capture a good photograph the male carrying the babies. But in the mean time, the cute fluff balls will suffice.

Specific Feedback

Any.

These are really BIG crops. They’re about 1/5th of the original frame. Do they look weird?

Technical Details

1/1600 f6.3 ISO 640 150-600@600mm Hand Held from floating pontoon.

Really nice family images, Glennie. I like the angle you got on these. As presented, the second is my favorite with the one chick in such nice crisp focus and the others so soft in the background. The first image seems a bit underexposed if that’s even a thing in digital. I think I’d bring up the whole image a bit then maybe add a bit of light to all three birds in that one.

As for the crops, they look fine. You can crop an amazing amount for web presentation and get away with it if the original is sharp.

Hi Glenys
Very cool. Love the low angle and the fluff balls.
Peter

I like that you were able to get down low on these images, Glenys. I like seeing the parent with the chicks and the nice background lets them all stand out.

I’m really loving the intimate nature of the second image and that you had the foresight to frame it in a way that captures all 4 in a way that they don’t overlap or cut into one another. That in focus bird is in the perfect spot in the frame. They are so cute. These are really awesome looking birds that I’m not familiar with. Just beautiful. I hope you get young ones riding on dads back but I’d be plenty happy with these until you do. Nice work!

@David_Haynes . Jacana babies ride under dad’s wings.

Dad looks like he has a forest under there.

I like the brightness of the repost and the second image looks good with the in focus fluff ball positioned perfectly in the frame. Well done…Jim
