Description

It is going to take some time to unpack the photographs from the Spruce Photo Tours, with Barry Spruce guiding the February, Florida Owl, and Birds Tour. This is one of my favorite shots. The Anhingas had just finished feeding the hatchlings when I came to this nest.
Thank you for stopping by.

Kind of a “Wow” image, Peter. Well composed with the those large branches framing the birds. Good poses and the whites and blacks are handled well. I can see why this is one of your favorites and look forward to more from your trip.

A superb image, Peter. the two branches frame the image beautifully and the three chicks and dad make a lovely composition without the seemingly obligatory regurgitation element. I missed this on my one trip to Florida a number of years ago as the Anhingas were still courting (though I got some neat pictures of the male’s courtship display). The only thing I could suggest is to try sneaking a little extra light on the adult’s face.

Excellent!! All said above. Don’t think I’ve ever seen even a picture of a youngster, and certainly haven’t actually seen one. Sounds like a great trip – can’t wait for more!!

Peter: this is definitely a wall hanger. Love everything about it especially the framing and the mimicking of the framing by two of the chicks.

Hi Allen, Dennis, Diane & Richard
Thank you for your comments. I retouch the head of the Anhingas and add three more shots of that nest.

All the shots are sweet. I like the one where the dad climbed out of their way!

More “wow” shots, Peter. A gift that kept on giving. I think the last one is special and a real winner.

Really nice capture Peter. Love seeing the family like this. The full series is special too showing the interaction of the adult and chicks. Well done.

Hi Dennis, Allen Brooks & Allen Sparks

I’m late to the party Peter, but I am sure glad I got to have a better look at these images.

Beautiful framing on all the images and all the birds are so clearly seen. I just love the light shining through the babies’ jowels and the feet of the adult. The one of the adult up the tree, with the good hair is my favourite.

I hope we get to see some more Peter!
