Description

Collared peccaries, also known as javelinas, are social, smelly, omnivorous mammals native to the Americas. Appearance: These pig-like creatures have a salt and pepper coat, a white neck collar, and a flat snout. They can grow to 3.3 ft long and weigh up to 66 lbs. Habitat: Collared peccaries live in a variety of tropical and subtropical habitats, including grasslands, forests, and deserts.

This image was taken near Hereford AZ, high desert, in the far southern part of the state.

It’s a nice clean capture of the Javelinas face Bill, the exposure has coped well with the “salt and pepper” there is still some detail on the shaded side of the face and even a catchlight in the eye.
The lens has allowed for the background to be out of focus and gives some separation from the animal even though they are pretty much the same colour.
And who doesn’t love a nice pink nose!
