The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Southern Arizona butterfly season. The Arizona Desert Museum: plants Milk Weed for these butterflies passing by mid-October. With lots of them around I had a lot of practice to capture them in flight. I do not think I have captured one in flight like this wide open.
Specific Feedback
How is the crop, I was trying to include the environment. High clouds around today, how is the lighting. Suggestions on shutter speed welcome.
Technical Details
Canon R5 ii with RF 100-400 (which has nice close focus) 225mm 1/2500 f/11 ISO 2500 (Auto) Used Photo AI to help recover softness of the subject, maybe shutter speed was not fast enough

A BF in flight shot, very nice Dean. I love the colors of the flower and the BF. My old eyes can’t tell for sure if the head and eyes are what you considered soft or not, but the body looks nice and sharp. I would think 1/2500 would be fast enough shutter speed for a BF in flight. Nice.
Dean: I think you did really well here. The wing tips aren’t perfectly sharp but the body looks good and from looking at the antennae it looks like you just kept the head in the focal plane. As for the comp I think the amount and rendering of the BG is just right. Top notch effort and result. >=))>
I think you nailed this one, Dean. The composition is excellent with the butterfly large enough in the frame to show lots of detail but still showing enough environment to convey that as well. Nicely done.
Gorgeous image of a beautiful butterfly. The browns and blues work so well together. You’ve got lovely sharpness where needed. I like the diagonal flow of the image. The butterfly has a tiny bug catching a ride.
