Lamar Crossing Series

Red Dog River Crossing

Frisky

Comfort in the Crowd

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

We were fortunate to watch as the whole herd was moving from the Southside to the Northside of the Lamar River. I loved the little “red dog” calves jumping through the water, shaking themselves off, skipping off ahead of mom, then, coming back and basking in the comfort of being near mom and the rest of the herd.

Specific Feedback

Overcast light was a bit flat. Debris in the river makes for a cluttered BG. I liked the action and family bonds obvious in this series of images. They take care of the little “red dogs.”

Hi @Ed_Williams . Nice series. My favorites are: #1 for the juxtaposition of the calf and mom and the implied affection/depemdemce; and # 4 which shows the safe crossing with the calves bounding ahead as mom looks like she would welcome a towel!
The cluttered background in some of the images tells the story of their environment. That’s where they live! Good storytelling in this series.

Another nice series! Bison calves are so cute and rambunctious, at a time when the adults are molting and pretty ragged.
It’s great fun to watch them.
My favorites are also #1 - for the close bonding clearly evident - and #4 - for the bouncing calf and soaked mom.
Well done!

Thank you very much @Garnet_Grosjean and @SandyR-B.
