Least Tern with a Catch

Hi All,

Still trolling my 2013 catalog. Here’s another from south Texas. This was from a really fun morning where I was lying on the beach shooting shorebirds in some puddles left over from high tide. Eventually, a flock (is that the right term?) of least terns came through and started fishing in the puddles around me, and I managed a few shots of the terns making a catch.

Techs:
D3s
200-400 +1.4x tc @ 550mm, handheld
1/3200
f/5.6
ISO 800

Great capture, Lyle!

I really like how you captured the water droplets so perfectly.

Exposure, sharpness and composition all look well handled.

Congrats on a fantastic image. :+1:

Excellent, Lyle. Beautiful timing and superb detail with nice lighting. A really sweet image.

A really nice job. I like how you have the nice full square on side pose of the tern c/w water drops and fish . And a nice low angle as well.

Wonderful! I think the DOF and POV really make this work well. Nice detail and water drops.

Excellent timing on this one. I like the pose and the detail is good. I also like the water action, water droplets, and oof background.
