Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

On my walk in Freedom Park. I have posted other images over the years with Freedom Park and my walks. I really enjoy just getting out and walking and just look around. Lots of interesting things to observe and all kinds of people walking and enjoying the park. A place to go and be a human being. I saw the bridge from this point of view and shot some images. Thought i would share for fun…

Specific Feedback

Maybe too busy and clutter look, but it’s the Fall… Everything is changing including how we see and feel.

Technical Details

ISO 800 Shutter 500 f11 shot with a fixed macro lens from 1979… Edit in Photoshop. some contrast. and dodge and burn tool but kept it simple and as natural as possible.

Gill, you had to be alert to see the possibility of a photo here. It’s busy but nature is busy at times.

If it were mine, I’d get rid of the pole that’s reflected in the opening under the bridge.

Thanks for showing interest. I may Take the pole out. I just walk and look and see things differently. The stone and water really appeal to me.

This is a very interesting image Gill. Well seen and captured with that older lens.

The reflection is lovely, and so is the bridge, but I feel an uneasy composition. Maybe a slight rotation to the right.

You have quite agressive contrast and tones and I wonder if there is another version where the image is a little less contrasty and whispers rather than shouts.

I lke Don’s suggestion of the pole removal.

I bet the colour version is also nice.

The bridge was dark and water very bright. The reflection was so intense and really cool. So I shot a few frames and decided not to edit too much. Lots of contrast with the leaves. Keep it natural. So I didn’t do much work. Kinda like Edward Weston. Thanks for showing interest. It’s great reading everyone’s ideas.

Tried another approach to this image and not over edit.

I just made a new edit to see how it looks. But try not to over edit.

Thanks again for the interest

The high contrast look here is quite dramatic, but also there is a peaceful feel. I think you did a good job on the repost, but I agree with @glennie regarding the addition of a slight clockwise rotation.

I love the refection and the scattering of leaves.

Thanks. I may do a slight rotation clockwise. I do like the contrast in this image. It doesn’t look flat. The image does question the eyes. Thanks for showing interest. I’m becoming more and more a Black and White Photographer. The tone and soul speaks to me. I hope my images represent old school film style photography. :folded_hands::camera_with_flash::folded_hands::camera_with_flash::folded_hands:

I like the rework Gill. It looks more peaceful.
Thanks for giving an idea of what you like to photograph.

I find it easier to compare versions of your image if you place the rework directly above the original post. There is a little pencil icon at the bottom of your post and from there you can upload the rework…and change the title to add “rework”.

Ok. I didn’t know how to do that. Maybe an editor can move it for me. I’ll try to learn as I go. I’m always looking at different ways to photograph things I see. There is so much there in the world to see and photograph. Just see it and have vision of the possibilities. Not a perfect world and we all have vision and hope we can capture what we see. That is what I love about the NPN. Everyone having a different vision and technique.
