Leaves in a stream

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was taking photos along a favorite creek when I saw this. It was an appealing but of chaos. I was in a spot where I couldn’t set up the tripod so the shot was handheld.

Specific Feedback

I decided to use a fast shutter speed, and on balance I think that was the right call, but I’m not sure the water in the shot looks like water. Does it?

Technical Details

ISO 2000, 213mm, f/11, 1/500th sec.

This does take a bit to figure out it’s water, Don. Sometimes those titles come in real handy to lead the viewer in the right direction. This is a wonderful small scene with really neat lighting highlighting the leaves here and there.

Did you mean to put this in Everything Else? Looks more like a small scene landscape image to me.

Thanks, Dennis. It’s useful to know that the water isn’t obvious.

I put the image here because it didn’t seem to fit in any other category.

No problem, Don. Thanks.
