Leopard in Tree

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I came upon this leopard with a kill cached in a tree. The road I was on was eye level with the leopard which gave a nice perspective. I shot the frame two ways. The first was with the lens at 186 mm to show the animal in its environment. The second was at 500 mm to emphasize the leopard. In the first photo, I shot with the leopard centered as putting the leopard off center just captured alot of oof background. I played with an off center crop but still preferred the centered frame,

Any preference or suggestions for improvement?

Technical Details

The first photo was shot a f/5, 1/1000 and Auto ISO. The second at f/8, 1/800 and Auto ISO.

Richard: I’m not a wildlife guy but I really like this. The close up view with that menacing glare is powerful. Beautiful animal superbly captured and presented. >=))>

Wow, really exceptional images! I always marvel how these guys can drag large prey up a tree.
Both images are wonderful. The first, in the wider environment with that gorgeous tree, is my first choice. The centering works very well here.
The second image, with that challenging stare and the prey ribs so detailed,
is also amazing. Wonderful light as well - and the shadows are compelling.
Do you think this is a pregnant female, or just a very full belly from the meal?
Very exceptional work, Richard!

Bill and Sandy: thanks for your comments which are appreciated. Sandy: the leopard is a very well fed male.

Beautiful image with great eye contact ! My vote goes to second one and I may crop it something like this.

Very nice shots! My preference is the 2nd. That stare is so good! Nice capture!

Jagdeep and Christine: thank you for commenting.
