Very nice job on the downy, Dave. You might look at doing something to reduce the prominence of the bark pattern in the background as it has a tendency to dominate the image.

Dennis raises an interesting point about the background. I dutifully subdue the background in most of my wildlife images, but sometimes I wish I could allow the background to speak for itself. It often is a legitimate part of the animal’s environment. I especially enjoy the bark in your image because it’s not only an element of the bird’s world, but is also an Intriguing mosaic pattern.

Nice catch of a bird I hardly ever get to see. I like the natural elements throughout in the image including the bark BG for my taste. Bird seems a bit soft in the largest image size.
