Dave, I am wondering what the original BG is? The bird itself is very nicely captured and processed but the proportion with those trees in the BG somehow doesn’t make sense to me.

Very good feather detail, Dave. I like the perch. Given the detail in the bird, I don’t think the background you chose fits well. It shouldn’t be that close to in focus unless you were using a very short focal length. I think I’d go with a smoother background, if you’re going to replace it. To my eye, the reds look just a touch oversaturated, but there’s a lot of variability in this species, so they could be accurate.

Hello, Dave. Before I had read your text I already noticed something strange about the BG. To be honest: I am not a fan of working in images this way, but that’s a personal matter. If you should choose to do so, however, I should enhance the image (which is also partly personal), and this case to me it doesn’t. That said, the techs on the bird ar great and the job you did is also pretty impressive ! Cheers, Hans
