Description
We have some manzanita trees and they are blossoming now. I thought I’d try to capture a bee working on it. BTW, I hear that manzanita makes for some very tasty honey. This was quite a challenge. The little buggers don’t hold still much.

Dave an excellent image here. I can’t imagine the challenges you had with the big lens on a monopod and the constant movement of the bee. Slightly different looking bee than I can recall seeing…very nice indeed…
Wow, this is super! Great structural flow from the flowers to the bee. Nice framing and texture, too. I think that the crop works with the bee centered. In the largest view it’s obvious it’s a big crop, but it still brings a smile. A couple months and bees will be buzzing here, too. Thanks for the preview.
Dave, sometimes big lenses work nice for macro. You don’t have to get close and disturb the subject and you gain a nice smooth BG. Nice details in the bee and the flowers seem to be pointing at him. Nicely done.
Really nice detail, Dave. I often use a big lens for macro, but hand-held, as I avoid tripods as best I can. Fine work, especially catching the bee with a monopod!
