Marbled Godwit

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

We were in Georgia a couple of weeks ago and I saw this Godwit on the shore. I assumed it would just dip its beak into the sand but, was surprised to see that it actually buried its head in the sand. Wouldn’t think that with a beak that long it would have to bury it’s head.

Lovely pose in the first and cool action in the second, Charlie. The bird is just a bit soft in both images which could be due to the shutter speed. With 774 mm equivalent 1/800 might be pushing it for a hand held shot, though if you believe the manufacturer’s claims about their image stabilization you aught to be able to use a second or two. That dive for the goodies is really cool.

I like the walking pose, Charlie, and the feeding shot is not something I’ve seen with Godwits.

Thanks for the feed back. Much appreciated.
