Peter:
A classic pose with an interesting background. I think it works well, especially with the depth of fields.
I like everything about this capture. Those feather, and grass textures, the great subject, that dark horizontal line, the cropping. What’s not to like. I think you have a “wall hanger” here.
This is gorgeous, Peter. The pose is wonderful and I like both the foreground and background. The neck and face look just slightly soft, which in this case, I think adds to the effectiveness of the image, giving a bit of painterly feel to the heron. The soft light also enhances the feel of this image. You really did have a good day with these birds.
Great heron shot Peter and I like how you captured him with his head slightly turned. The soft lighting really shows lots of detail and his marshy habitat is very evident. There used to be a rookery in Old Lyme I liked to hike to, but a new house popped up at the edge of the pond and sadly it became abandoned.
Love the setting and pose here Peter. The environment really shows out well here and I like the layers conveyed.
Hi David, Dave, Dennis, Jim & Allen
Thank you for the comments. This seems to have been the high point in bird count for this early season. Less than a third of the birds that were there in May are at Rocky Neck State Park now.
