Pertinent technical details or techniques:

I usually have a hard time getting a good shot of a Meadowlark. They spook easily. I got into a lot of them recently and they didn’t seem to mind me being closer. This is the best Meadowlark shot I’ve ever gotten. D500, Nikon 200-500mm lens, Nikon 1.4 TC, hand held, 1/1600th, f 8.0, 500mm, ISO 3200, AI Clear, cropped to 2611 x 3085

Sweet Meadowlark shot, Dave. I like the head turn. If you have it, it feels to me as if it could use a bit more canvas on the left.

Agree: great shot of the meadowlark with nice colors and detail.

I’d like to say how much I always appreciate the input I get on my posts and mostly take them to heart. I really value you guy’s/gal’s critiques and I think it’s slowly but surely improving my photography. Thanks!

Dave, these guys are difficult to capture a decent shot of because they are so skittish, but you did a great job here. Love the head turn too. Colors are really great. I agree, the comments I get is slowly but surely improving my photography as well. What a great community!
