Misty wings

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Looking for birds in the Southern delta of the Netherlands, I happened upon these wings emerging from the late afternoon ground mist. I thought there was a lot of grace there. I tried to compose so as not to cut off any of the wings, which was more complicated than I imagined.

Specific Feedback

My main questions are about the composition. I could have positioned the windmills higher up in the picture to emphasise the mist more. But then I would also have included more of the electrical masts. Attempts at removing these with AI remove in LR yielded variable success, so I chose to let their tips be in the picture. Should I try more?

This is a very elegant composition to me, Xavier. I like the effect of the mist in creating a high key look and providing an ethereal feel in the image. I noticed while composing this that there was a banner with the file information covering up a bit of the bottom which included both of the power line towers and it looked quite good that way as well. I wonder also if the one bright blade that managed to escape the frame could be misted over a bit in processing.

VERY nice!! Well seen and composed! I don’t think I would want to crop more from the bottom, but the objects there would be easy to clone out. Just zoom way in with a very small brush. Sometimes the older methods work better than the new stuff. (But that is a PS thing – if you only use LR it could be a lot more challenging.)

Xavier, I admire the way the man-made objects merge into the natural background. And the minimalism and negative space really work.

This image just came up to my attention. Way To cool !!!The Lines and the Tone of this image is really good. To my eye there is a sharpness and softness that really works. Outstanding !!!

Thanks to the Editors for noticing this picture. It motivates me to look for more of this (as side benefits of nature pictures!).
