Description

It was late afternoon “golden hour” very windy and cold but this young male moose was not bothered as he had a salad bowl full of his favorite snacks right in front of him. He only brought his head up briefly before dunking down again. I was able to catch him a few times in the golden light. I also took a video which is amusing.

Specific Feedback

Is this image too bright? or expected during the bright late day sun?

What a great capture of a beautiful animal, interesting behaviour, in a wonderful setting and lovely light. It must have been very fun to watch. I do find this a bit bright as my eyes are pulled to the background more than the moose. Are you able to darken just a bit?

Yes I will try, I agree it is too bright. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it Robena.

Oh what a great look on his face! They are so wonderful. I miss them as they are very rare in Wisconsin. Looks like this needs a CCW adjustment as it’s tilted. The highlights look natural to me given the time of day. Toning them down much more will probably make them muddy.

That is a great capture of his expression.
I do agree it is just a bit bright. You can try toning it down just a bit. That’s the problem with photos in the middle of the day, isn’t it? It’s so hard to get that depth of color and tone without getting it too bright!
He is really sleek!

Thank you very much Genny. I will post updated photo with changes.

Hi Norma, I really like how you’ve captured the moose’s subtle variations of coat color and texture in the golden light – really nice variation between the wet and dry areas. I’m also delighted by the catchlight in his eye. All in all, I feel like I’m right at home with one of my neighborhood moose back in the little hamlet of Moose, Wyoming. Well done!

Thank you Michael it really was a joy to spend some time with him. I appreciate your comment.
