Morning Monarch Cat

We had lots of Monarch’s in our small milkweed patch last year. This caterpillar was enjoying the milkweed on a morning with some dew.

I love the lighting in this image, Mark. Beautiful image.

Mark: Great lighting indeed. Judging by the size of this guy that leaf would have a pretty short life expectancy. Nice find and a terrific capture.>=))>

Great shot, Mark. The lighting is great, and I love how you captured his face peaking over the point of the leaf. Well done.

Hi Mark,

Lots of style points with this shot. Lighting is awesome and the comp is very creative. Well done…Jim

Splendid and very intriguing image!.. The light is beautiful.
I wonder whether a small crop (especially on the right side) could work…
Antonello

Hi Mark, I really like the light shining through the leaf. The pose of the caterpillar apparently about to devour the leaf is well timed. Very nice image.

Yeah, the backlight and lighting is really superb here. Great colors all around

I really like the lighting on this, especially the venation on the in-focus part of the leaf and the two little “sun stars” from the dew on the bottom of the caterpillar. I am in agreement with Antonello about a crop on the right.

One of the best parts of this photo for me is the fact it tells a story.
